How Holycome's Factory Controls Quality from Rough Stone to Finished Jewelry

How Holycome's Factory Controls Quality from Rough Stone to Finished Jewelry

A 0.3 percent defect rate is not achieved by accident. It is the result of a structured, four-stage quality control process that touches every single piece of jewelry before it leaves our Wuzhou, Guangxi factory. In this behind-the-scenes look, we walk through exactly how Holycome ensures consistent quality across the 50,000 finished pieces we produce every month, and why our repeat client rate exceeds ninety percent.

Stage One: Raw Material Inspection

Every batch of gold, silver and gemstones is inspected before production even begins. Gold and silver purity is verified using X-ray fluorescence testing, confirming that 10K, 14K or 18K content matches the order specification exactly. Moissanite and lab grown diamond stones are checked for color grade (D or near-colorless), clarity grade (VVS1 is our standard), and that the accompanying GRA or IGI certificate matches the physical stone. Any stones that do not meet our grade threshold are rejected before they ever reach a production workbench. This first checkpoint eliminates the most common source of quality complaints: substandard raw materials.

Stage Two: In-Process Quality Checks

During production, our QC team inspects pieces at two intermediate stages. First, immediately after casting: we examine every casting for porosity, bubbles, structural cracks or incomplete forms. Pieces with casting defects go straight back for re-casting rather than moving forward. Second, after stone setting: we verify that every stone is securely seated, that all prongs are smooth and properly closed, that no stones are tilted or loose, and that the setting symmetry matches the approved design. Any setting issue is corrected before polishing begins.

Stage Three: Final Laboratory Inspection

Before packaging, every finished piece enters our QC lab for a comprehensive final inspection. We weigh each piece on a precision scale to confirm it matches the specified gold weight range. We examine the polish finish under magnification to ensure there are no scratches, pits or uneven areas. We verify the hallmark stamp is legible and correctly placed. We cross-check the GRA or IGI certificate report number against the physical stone. We also run nickel and lead spot tests to ensure compliance with EU REACH and US FDA standards. Only pieces that pass every check move to packaging.

Stage Four: Packaging and Documentation

Approved pieces are individually packaged in protective anti-tarnish pouches or your branded gift boxes. Each order includes the matching GRA or IGI certificate for each stone, a detailed packing list with piece counts and SKUs, and a batch QC inspection report summarizing the results from that production run. For larger orders above 200 pieces, we include individual inspection photos on request, so you can confirm the quality before even opening the outer carton.

Continuous Improvement Data Loop

Defect data from every shipment is logged and reviewed in a weekly quality meeting. If a particular design, casting batch or production line shows a defect rate above our 0.3 percent threshold, we pause production, identify the root cause with the production team, correct the process, and only then resume production. This continuous improvement loop is why our defect rate has remained below one percent for over five consecutive years. We welcome factory visits, third-party inspection services and pre-shipment QC audits at any stage of production.
